Stranger

We used to be close
As close as can be
We used to have a bond
As strong as can be
But now we’re just as strangers

We used to be best of friends
Or I suppose we could have been
The memories of those days have long faded
And now we’re just as strangers

I used to know who  you are
Your favorites, your strengths and weaknesses
I used to understand you, and then the feeling was mutual
But now we’re just as strangers

But sadly you had to go
To a place farther than home
To you it has become home
And so we’re just as strangers

Now everything has changed
We’ve grown in different ways
Our ways and manners are different
And now we’re just as strangers

I used to look forward to your homecoming
But now the confusion as to how to relate with you
Makes me wish you gone the moment you’ve arrived
Because we’re just as strangers

I could treat you as sister
But only my sister knows that being my sister sucks
I’m unruly, lazy and carefree
And yet she loves me still
It’s difficult being sisters
Because we’re just as strangers

It’s strange being strangers
Because we’re sisters still
It’s not your fault that you had to go
But still life took its course

I wish things were different
That we were as sisters are

Let’s stop dwelling on what could have been
Let’s stop seeing things like they are as they aught to be
And see them as they are
Because the sooner the fact is faced
The easier it is to move on

We really are just as strangers

Hey stranger!
I’m your sister!
Will you be my friend?

Peace be with you…

  1. Nicely crafted!

However, not just sisters, we’re all strangers! Remember the word of Allah when He was describing the day of recompense, “…even parents will loose their significance, as well as spouses and children”.

    Are we not all strangers?
