The Sundering

Alhamdulillah, it’s another edition of my book review, and just so we don’t get off track, I’m going to remind us all of the purpose of this weekly review. I chose to do this so that, at least once a week we get to read and digest the meaning of a chapter of ‘our Guide Book’ with the hope that someday soon we’d have read every last chapter, and that we’d have pondered on it, understood it and truly live our lives by it. So please, this isn’t just another blog post, Read and Reflect.
That being said, let’s get down to business

This chapter tells us about the splitting asunder of the heaven and the stretching forth of the earth on the day of resurrection, and that the recompense of deeds is true that is whatever deed you do you’ll meet Allah with it whether good or evil. The chapter then goes on to explain the presentation of records and the relevance of how it is received, for those who receive with their right hand they’re the successful ones, and those who receive from behind their backs are…, well let’s just pray that we receive our records with our right hands.
Then Allah swears by the various stages of Man’s journey, and disapproves of the lack of faith of the disbelievers, giving them tidings of the torments, and that the ultimate pleasure will be for the believers

The Story
In the Name of Allah, the Most Gracious, the most Merciful
When the heaven is split asunder, And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; And when the earth is stretched forth, And has cast out all that was in it and became empty, And listens and obeys its Lord, and it must do so; O man! Verily, you are returning towards your Lord with your deeds and actions (good or bad), a sure returning, so you will meet (i.e. the results of your deeds which you did). Then, as for him who will be given his Record in his right hand, He surely will receive an easy reckoning, And will return to his family in joy! But whosoever is given his Record behind his back, He will invoke (his) destruction, And shall enter a blazing Fire, and made to taste its burning. Verily, he was among his people in joy! Verily, he thought that he would never come back (to Us)! Yes! Verily, his Lord has been ever beholding him!

So I swear by the afterglow of sunset; And by the night and whatever it gathers in its darkness; And by the moon when it is at the full, You shall certainly travel from stage to stage (in this life and in the Hereafter). What is the matter with them, that they believe not? And when the Quran is recited to them, they fall not prostrate, Nay, (on the contrary), those who disbelieve, belie (Prophet Muhammad (Peace be upon him) and whatever he brought, i.e. this Quran and Islamic Monotheism, etc.). And Allah knows best what they gather (of good and bad deeds), So announce to them a painful torment. Save those who believe and do righteous good deeds, for them is a reward that will never come to an end (i.e. Paradise).
