I’m having my first book review today or should I say my first review of The Book. I keep using the word review because I like it ☺, so I better explain exactly what’s coming next; when I say story – what I mean is the chapter or section of The Book that I’ll be writing about, and when I say review – it’ll be a summarized explanation of the chapter.
The title of today’s story is The Great News, I’ll write the story briefly and then the review. Enjoy!
The Great News
Concerning what are they disputing?
About the great event, About which they are in disagreement. Nay, they will come to know! Nay, again, they will come to know!
Have We not made the earth an even expanse? And the mountains as pegs? And We have created you in pairs. And have made your sleep as a thing for rest. And have made the night as a covering, And have made the day for livelihood.And (have We not) built over you the seven firmaments, And placed (therein) a Light of Splendour? And do We not send down from the clouds water in abundance, that We may bring forth thereby corn and herbs, And gardens of luxurious growth?
Verily the Day of Sorting out is a thing appointed, The day on which the trumpet shall be blown so you shall come forth in hosts, And the heavens shall be opened as if there were doors, And the mountains shall vanish, as if they were a mirage. Truly, Hell is a place of ambush,
A home for the rebellious. They will abide therein for ages, Nothing cool shall they taste therein, nor any drink. Save a boiling fluid and a fluid, dark, murky, intensely cold, A fitting recompense (for them). For verily, they used not to look for a reckoning. But they (impudently) treated Our Signs as false. And all things have We preserved on record. So taste! for We will not add to you aught but chastisement.
Verily for the Righteous there will be a fulfilment of (the heart’s) desires; Gardens and grapeyards;
And voluptuous women of equal age; And a full cup. No vanity shall they hear therein, nor Untruth:- A reward from your Lord, an ample calculated gift. From the Lord of the heavens and the earth, and all between, (Allah) Most Gracious.
None shall have power to argue with Him. On the day when the angels and the Spirit stand arrayed, they speak not, saving him whom the Beneficent alloweth and who speaketh right.
Surely We have warned you of a chastisement near at hand: the day when man shall see what his two hands have sent before, and the unbeliever shall say: O! would that I were dust!
The chapter first (First paragraph) talks about a refutation against the idolator’s denial of the day of judgement. The great news about which they are asking is the day of judgement, the people are divided into two ideas about it;
- There are those that believe in it, and
- Those that disbelieve in it
Then Allah threatens those who deny the day of judgement saying; “Verily they will come to know”
The subsequent verses mentions Allah’s power and His ability to resurrect the dead (Paragraph two), Allah explains His ability to create strange things and amazing matters. He brings this as proof of His ability to do as he wishes concerning the matter of the Hereafter and other matters as well.
Allah then explains the day of decision and what occurs during it (Paragraph 3). The day of decision is the day of judgement – It is at a fixed time, with a set appointment, Its time cannot be added or decreased. No one knows its exact time except Allah – Allah explains the events of the day of judgement, Hell and it’s dwellers (Transgressors), time to be spent in Hell (Eternity), their condition, their denial of Allah’s sign while on earth and Allah has kept a record of all they used to do (Good or Evil).
The next Paragraph (4) is about the great success of those who have Taqwa (Piety),and what Allah has prepared for them of esteem and eternal pleasure.
The last Paragraph tells us that no one will dare speak before Allah, without first receiving permission (not even angels), that the day of judgement is true (It will come to pass, and there is no avoiding it) and that the day of judgement is Near.
This is the end of the chapter of The Great News
