Role Model

When the term role model is mentioned, who do you think of, what name pops on your mind? Whoever it is, I take it that’s the person you’re trying to be, but is that really who you’re supposed to be? Meanwhile it’s okay to like and adore someone, but to actually emulate someone, they need to have the best of characters.
When you think about best characters, who do you think of? No, don’t answer that! There’s no need to think when we’ve already been told…

And verily, you (O Muhammad SAW) are on an exalted standard of character. (Q 68:4)

Indeed in the Messenger of Allah (Muhammad SAW) you have a good example to follow for him who hopes in (the Meeting with) Allah and the Last Day and remembers Allah much. (Q 33:21)

Yes, yes! Every Muslim’s role model is our beloved Prophet (S.A.W) (if he isn’t yours yet, now is the time to make him), and just as with other role models, we try to emulate him the best way we can, follow his examples, do things the way he did, say things the way he said it, and just live our lives by his example.

Kathir ibn Abdullah reported: The Prophet, peace and blessings be upon him, said to Bilal, “Learn.” Bilal said, “What should I learn, Off Messenger of Allah?” The Prophet said, “Learn, O Bilal! ” Bilal said, “I am ready to learn, O Messenger of Allah.” The Prophet said, “Verily, whoever revives a tradition ( sunnah ) from among my traditions which has died after me, then he will have a
reward similar to whoever acts upon it without taking anything away from their rewards. Whoever introduces an innovation with which Allah and His Messenger are not pleased, then he will have a sin similar to whoever acts upon it without taking anything away from the sins of the people .”

Starting this Friday, 23rd of October, 2015, and all Fridays to follow (in sha Allah), I’m going to post about one Sunnah from the tradition of the Prophet (S.A.W), that’s one Sunnah weekly (not necessarily a forgotten one) in an attempt to revive the Sunnah of our Prophet (S.A.W), may Allah make it easy for us all to live by his examples.
Don’t be left out, watch out, Read, learn and share to gain out of the rewards.

Peace be with you…
