I was just going through some of my old books – I have these books that I call my book of words where I write things that I learned, heard or thought of and that I don’t want to forget, it was one of such books that I was going through when I found a poem that I wrote while thinking about my dad. I’m sure it’s been a while since I wrote it but he still hasn’t seen it so I decided to share it here, I after all didn’t write it just for him, I wrote it because it’s what I think of dads. I dunno about you but I’ve got a pretty amazing dad, actually he’s the best dad in the world – don’t argue…..
Alright! Alright! I think all dads are amazing.
And the poem goes thus:
To his young child
He is a prince
He is a king
He is a god
He is a hero
Who has no blemish
He does everything right
He is his child’s first love
And though he might be harsh sometimes
He is the best Dad in the world
To his grown child
He is a blessing
He is a mentor
He is a councillor
Now his faults are clearer
And his actions are of his child’s understanding
The child sees that it was all for his own good
And though the child now knows that he wasn’t always right
He still is the best Dad in the world
I love my Father
To all kids out there, you probably haven’t gotten to the understanding his actions part yet, so I’m telling you that it’s all for your own good. You should give him a hug and say “I love you Dad, you’re the best” but you’re probably too afraid so I’m going to help you out here.
We love you Dads……..
Peace be with you…
